Sexual Child Abuse
When underwriting people who have survived sexual child abuse, the key word is survival.
There's a clear psychological benefit from viewing oneself as a survivor - not as a victim. One can intuitively understand that this psychological advantage does translate into a better life insurance rate.
Think about how the life underwriter evaluates risk. Later in life, many abuse victims engage in self-abusive behaviors, which can sadly increase the chances of an early death. Conversely, insurance companies recognize that - by making the psychological transition from victim to survivor - people are empowered to live a long and healthy life.
